From the yogic perspective, there are exactly 68 vortex centres on the planet earth. In Sanskrit and Gurmukhi, they are known as “Tirath”. These centres hold the secrets of both the known and the unknown realms.
Tiratha is a living space, a dimension, a portal, an activated vortex center, an energy field, which can be used to transcend the mind.
Harimandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, stands as the highest of the sixty-eight vortex centers on earth, with an ancient history going back to the Golden Age.
The Golden Temple is the throne of the world psyche, the consciousness of the divine.
The gold in the temple represents the sun, while the marble represents the moon. This space holds a perfect balance of the Sun and Moon; the yin and yang, the two polarities of the earth.
The Golden Temple was designed according to very advanced yogic science: its very structure is one of sacred geometry. The energetic points in the Golden temple correspond to the energetic locations of the human body. All the elements and all the chakras are perfectly established here. Just being in the presence of the energetic field of the Golden Temple can make a phenomenal difference in your life.
The main temple dome under which the guru is installed is called “Garab Greha”: the womb. The womb, from a yogic perspective, is seen as the most meditative space in the entire creation. Within it, there is no experience of time and space and the soul is connected with the divine celestial music known as “Anhad Naad”. That is also the reason why the interior of the golden temple is very small. A room’s size has an effect on consciousness. As one transitions from an open space to a smaller space, the energy field and the mind are immediately contained. They become immediately more receptive to the impact of the Divine Sound current “Shabad”, which is constantly being vibrated in the Golden Temple.
